Another Quarter Log Cabin from Elaine Adair Pieces

Apparently I am "stuck" on this design, the fifth I've made recently.   This is ready to be gifted.

The back ...,
This is all straight-lined quilted with 2 sets of double lines through each diagonal block sets (i.e., both ways).  The recipient is an almost-adult teen guy - hope he likes it.  I sure do!  Size is 72" x 90" and again, includes fabrics left over from DH's shirts that I made for him.  No finished shirts were harmed.   I paid little attention to strip width and just hoped for the best.  That worked great for construction but the ...

Kaleidoscope Variation, Quarter Log Cabins, Star Quilt from Elaine Adair Pieces

Just playing with variations.  mmm how to border it ???  Kinda "heavy" with so much action.  I wanted to make the star main focus, but perhaps plain wedges would have been better.  Live and learn.

A BONANZA from the FREE TABLE at All Day Sew!  This one is gonna be stunning!!!!!!!

New railing on new deck is PERFECT for showing off quilts!  The quarter log cabin is NOT the same as the above quarter log cabin.  I've made FIVE Quarter Log Cabins!  Wowsa - a perfect project for  those scraps.

Not sure if I ever posted this.  Note there are dark ...

Another Quarter Log Cabin from Elaine Adair Pieces

Quarter Log Cabin in Blue .  Friend Linda "cleaned up her sewing space before company arrived" and donated a LOT of lovely blue fabrics to the FREE TABLE at our local All Day Sew.  I snatched it up and 2 months later it turned into this!  Thank you Linda.  I added the background blue-gray .  Note the unexpected lavendar strips!  This is the 3rd or 4th Quarter Log Cabin I've made.  Size is approx. 70 x 82.  I added a faux flange binding.

The back.  I am practicing with rulers.

Plaid Pleasures was made from real left-over fabric from real shirts ...

A 30 gallon bag of scraps from Elaine Adair Pieces

I mentioned my gifted bag of scraps in a previous post.  At first glance, that bag didn't look very appealing but the simple job of sorting them into lights and darks encouraged possibilities. Here is the pretty surprise.  Only a small amount of "lights" was needed from my existing stash.  It still needs some kind of creative border.

It's hot in western Nebraska, upper 90s.

New floor DONE, a finished Quarter Log Cabin Quilt, Air Link flight. from Elaine Adair Pieces

This is the last big project for the year.  Old carpet finally GONE, and new vinyl flooring installed.  This is the family room.

The is a small pass-thru area usually piled with "stuff".   I need to find 2 strong men to slide the heavy cabinets 16 inches the other way, but I'm close to the end of this project.  The plan is to add 1 area rug here, bright and graphic, to give the room color.

Here is the larger part of family room, needing a 2nd area rug.

A quilt photo ... this one is probably my favorite of ...

Quarter or Half Log Cabin, on Point, and Anxiety from Elaine Adair Pieces

This project was fun to make and went together quickly.  I even used the recently acquired 10 inch duo something or other Log Cabin trim ruler which surprisingly, became a well-appreciated tool.  Fabric choice was using what I had, many already-cut strips, and even used some uglies, always sewing value contrasts.  Sometimes the medium fabric was a dark and sometimes it was a light, and vice versa, depending on its neighbor.  All of my strips are one size, altho the ruler included instructions for a narrow/wider option.  In the below photo, lower left is the fabric for the float ...

Making Every Day Count from Elaine Adair Pieces

Being a widow - The title of this post, that phrase, command, order, suggestion to "Make every day count"  has kept me moving forward.   Those were my husband's words.  He was pretty good at being productive.  He also said  "One step at a time", and "Slow, Steady  Positive Progress".   Listening to his good advice has been a good connection with him.   He was a Manager and knew how to get things accomplished.  I'm trying to follow his suggestions and hardly procrastinating any more.   I've been in this new life as a widow for almost a year and half ...

GeoOptics Quilt Pattern from easypatchwork

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by to check out the new GeoOptics quilt pattern. I am really excited about sharing this quilt with you too. It has been an idea floating around in my head since the beginning of spring this year. I wanted to create a pattern using a simple and traditional block and flip it into something different and unexpected. And if you love mini quilts, there is a mini version just for you. I hope you will enjoy the pattern.

The log cabin block is one of the oldest quilt blocks around. In fact, you might have ...
