Just playing with variations. mmm how to border it ??? Kinda "heavy" with so much action. I wanted to make the star main focus, but perhaps plain wedges would have been better. Live and learn.

New railing on new deck is PERFECT for showing off quilts! The quarter log cabin is NOT the same as the above quarter log cabin. I've made FIVE Quarter Log Cabins! Wowsa - a perfect project for those scraps.

Quarter Log Cabin in Blue . Friend Linda "cleaned up her sewing space before company arrived" and donated a LOT of lovely blue fabrics to the FREE TABLE at our local All Day Sew. I snatched it up and 2 months later it turned into this! Thank you Linda. I added the background blue-gray . Note the unexpected lavendar strips! This is the 3rd or 4th Quarter Log Cabin I've made. Size is approx. 70 x 82. I added a faux flange binding.

read moreI mentioned my gifted bag of scraps in a previous post. At first glance, that bag didn't look very appealing but the simple job of sorting them into lights and darks encouraged possibilities. Here is the pretty surprise. Only a small amount of "lights" was needed from my existing stash. It still needs some kind of creative border.

Sometimes the medium fabric was a dark and sometimes it was a light, and vice versa, depending on its neighbor. All of my strips are one size, altho the ruler included instructions for a narrow/wider option. In the below photo, lower left is the fabric for the float ...
read moreBeing a widow - The title of this post, that phrase, command, order, suggestion to "Make every day count" has kept me moving forward. Those were my husband's words. He was pretty good at being productive. He also said "One step at a time", and "Slow, Steady Positive Progress". Listening to his good advice has been a good connection with him. He was a Manager and knew how to get things accomplished. I'm trying to follow his suggestions and hardly procrastinating any more. I've been in this new life as a widow for almost a year and half ...
read moreHi everyone! Thanks for stopping by to check out the new GeoOptics quilt pattern. I am really excited about sharing this quilt with you too. It has been an idea floating around in my head since the beginning of spring this year. I wanted to create a pattern using a simple and traditional block and flip it into something different and unexpected. And if you love mini quilts, there is a mini version just for you. I hope you will enjoy the pattern.
The log cabin block is one of the oldest quilt blocks around. In fact, you might have ... read more
